┣ List 10 things you want to say to people but know you never will.
┣ Don't say who they are.
┣ Disable comments.
┗ Never discuss it again.

1. Backup, your somthering me. I don't have to be responsible to tell you my every move, so stop acting like it, and you don't live in my room. Biggest mistake i've made is letting you think so.
2. This is not what i want. I'm not what i want, my life's a waiste so kick me out already.
3. I've grown up, stop trying to hold me back. It's by far hurt me more than helped. People need to fall on thier face and fail everynow and then. it's heathly.
4. Opening up the way you want me to has only lead to me getting hurt in the past. I want to open up more, but my mind instinctivly blacks out when i try to.
5. you said that, that song didn't mean much, so why does it hurt so much to listen to it?
6. you need to love yourself. You aren't the plain/boring person you see yourself as.
7. Get off the drugs, I can't associate with you no matter how irregularly you use them.
8. Your a psycopathic, arrogant manic who is driving people away. What makes you so much better than us? And why do you insist in driving away those committed and hard working? Just because we are a slightly different aspect doesn't make us threat to your lil' "empire".
9. why do you let people use you as nothing more than meat? why do you limit yourself when you are worth so much more? Your bounds are only where you set them, stop selling yourself short.
10. .. / .- -- / --- ..- - / --- ..-. / .. -.. . .- ... / .-.-.- / .--. .-. ... .--. / - --- / .- -. -.-- --- -. . / .-- .... --- / -.-. .- -. / .-. . .- -.. / - .... .. .... / .-.-.- / ...-.-

Understanding Engineers [Apr. 20th, 2005|11:31 am]
ft_drivn_sailor
Understanding Engineers
Understanding Engineers - Take One
Two engineering students crossing the campus when one said, "Where did you
get such a great bike?"
The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday minding my
own business when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike. She threw the bike
to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want."
The first engineer nodded approvingly, "Good choice; the clothes probably
wouldn't have fit."

Understanding Engineers - Take Two
To the optimist, the glass is half full.
To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Understanding Engineers - Take Three
A pastor, a doctor and an engineer were waiting one morning for a
particularly slow group of golfers.
The engineer fumed, "What's with these guys? We must have been waiting for
15 minutes!"
The doctor chimed in, "I don't know, but I've never seen such ineptitude!"
The pastor said, "Hey, here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with
him." "Hi George! Say, what's with that group ahead of us?
They're rather slow, aren't they?"
The greens keeper replied, "Oh, yes, that's a group of blind fire-fighters.
They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we
always let them play for free anytime."
The group was silent for a moment. The pastor said, "That's so sad. I think
I will say a special prayer for them tonight."
The doctor said, "Good idea. And I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist
buddy and see if there's anything he can do for them."
The engineer said, "Why can't these guys play at night?"

Understanding Engineers - Take Four
What is the difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers?
Mechanical Engineers build weapons and Civil Engineers build targets.

Understanding Engineers - Take Five
The graduate with a Science degree asks, "Why does it work?"
The graduate with an Engineering degree asks, "How does it work?"
The graduate with an Accounting degree asks, "How much will it cost?"
The graduate with an Arts degree asks, "Do you want fries with that?"

Understanding Engineers - Take Six
Three engineering students were gathered together discussing the possible
designers of the human body.
One said, "It was a mechanical engineer." Just look at all the joints."
Another said, "No, it was an electrical engineer. The nervous system has
many thousands of electrical connections."
The last one said, "Actually it was a civil engineer. Who else would run a
toxic waste pipeline through a recreational area?"

Understanding Engineers - Take Seven
"Normal people believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Engineers believe that if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features
yet"

Understanding Engineers - Take Eight
An architect, an artist and an engineer were discussing whether it was
better to spend time with the wife or a mistress.
The architect said he enjoyed time with his wife, building a solid
foundation for an enduring relationship.
The artist said he enjoyed time with his mistress, because the passion and
mystery he found there.
The engineer said, "I like both." "Both?" "Yeah. If you have a wife and a
mistress, they will each assume you are spending time with the other woman,
and you can go to the lab and get some work done."

Understanding Engineers - Take Nine
An engineer was crossing a road one-day when a frog called out to him and
said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over,
picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.
The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a
beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The engineer took
the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket.
The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess,
I'll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want." Again the engineer took the
frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.
Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful
princess, and that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want.
Why won't you kiss me?"
The engineer said, "Look, I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a
girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's cool."

random inspiration at the swim meet, ahhh boredom [Feb. 22nd, 2005|03:37 pm]
ft_drivn_sailor
life is a series of gambles and risks
for everything we do, there is an ante, a debt to pay or collect
some games you never seem to win, and of playing seems to mound up more and more
while with others the wins are consistant and as easy as taking yet another breath
but then again it is inevitable that you will have a last breath
a breath that when it ends, so ends you existance as a mortal being
however it is in the risks that we must fail at consistantly, before we reach success where we find our greatest pride in achievement
like a toddler trying to learn hor to walk, we are going to to fall over and over
but the goal will never be reached unless we continue to get up and try again
AS with everything, as the toddler eventually walks, our goals eventually will be reached

[music |The Downeaster Alexa- Billy Joel]

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented,
fabulous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your
playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing'enlightened
about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make
manifest the glory of god that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it
is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically
liberates others."

soooooo, who remembers the song parranoia?
cuz the word fits me perfect, and now i got the song stuck in my head.

idk just one of those days where i really wouldn't mind roughing it out, living as a woodsman or something. Just somewhere absent of society, atleast modern society, and where nothing can get in my way i can't handle mano-e-mano. and if i can't handle it, well then life is the least of my worries then, now isn't it?
but whatever. I really think i was born in the wrong age, but then what can i do about it? Nothing, so just bitching like thiis is a waste of time and effort, only gonna bring about more depression and self pitty. With that i end it to try and do somehting productive, like study.

new meaning to the term cold ship [Jan. 20th, 2005|12:02 am]
ft_drivn_sailor
[mood |contentcontent]

sooooo, what do you call a big hunk of floating steel sitting in the murky sewage infested waters of the east river?
The USS "hunk of Junk" Stalworth
oooo how i just love 0400-0800 watch on her, the first 30min it was like a novalty, she's not a ship we get to be on much, so we explored the whole thing. After that we retreated to the warmest space(at a nice crisp 34 degrees) and tried not to freeze to death. This was followed by repeated expeditions to try and find a working heater. We found 3 build in space heaters but could not get them to work, one portable space heater, but that two didn't work(it was also split in half but hey, the risk of getting electricuted would have been acceptible if we could get warm). Next came the galley. We tryied turning on the coffe pots, crock pots, every short of the deepfryers. Nada. so we retreated back to the the Electrical room. there we noticed the switch for the generator heaters. So we tried it. After a good 20 minutes where the engine room showed no change anywhere we again retreated(it's like 26 degrees in there!!)
So after watch, after i could no longer feel my feet, after i feared that my toes had fallen off, after my face felt like the dentist OD'ed me on novicain(but my hands were warm, thank god for happy pockets), i finally got to go somewhere warm, the mess deck.
so great, i go from the coldest place on earth, to the shittiest food on earth, but hey it was warm.
After breakfast i went to bed after removing myself from a 8:30 swimmin class(gotta love the online schedual editor) to wake up around 2:30 and say holy crap i missed intro to ships systems.
Turns out it got canceled, but i still had to hurry to my first calc 2 class
Now, i set up my calc 2 class so that there was another one right after it, well i missed the first one(it was at 1:30) so i went to the second and i'm sitting in the back there, figured i'd tell the teacher that i missed the first but was there for the second after, and in the middle of no where he goes, "oooo so your Drollinger. Your classmates said that your always late." great such a nice way to start off that class, as the late one.
But on a bright side i found out that my intro to ships systems class had been canceled anyways

off to NROTC i went, and then swim meet
Swam a good time for myself, i was in the 100 fly(ugg) but managed to get it done in under 2 min i think it was.
came back, and played with my pc set up(by the way my newer sn doesn't work so get me at my old one)
and that was my day

now if only i could figure out a way to see Liz more often

did 9/11 make a difference? [Dec. 16th, 2004|08:55 pm]
ft_drivn_sailor
Many say that the world trade center attack "changed everything," rather it only jumpstarted a process that had already stalled out. The attack was a figurehead, a public rallying point, for our need to address security issues. It brought change in: airport security, port security, police screenings, transit operating proceedure, visible police presence, internal review of the CIA and FBI, and issues with inflight saftey and proceedure. However, it had its most porfound effect on the publics questions of, are we safe. It brought fresh fear into the minds of all.
But were does the military fit into all of this? With all the change we've made else where it'd be irresponsible for us to forget the miliitary, however they didn't wait for the figurehead. They had been making changes all along. Some in response to incidents -e.g.: the U.S.S. Cole - others out of pure observance that things could be done better.
So why did the public wait for 9/11 to happen? Why the Trade Center as their rally point and not the Cole or and embassy? Quite simply, it didn't happen here. and now that it has, they want to know were where the safety mechanisms for stopping such event.
Now that is has all happened congress and governing bodies all over the country are running aruond like a chicken with its head chopped off. They demand sharp abrupt changes to operating policy here and various long term goals set there. Some of the motions passed and proposed is genuin concern, while others are just to make the voting public happy. But no matter what the motive, they all know its going to effect the race in November.
So now we come back around to the common man. He sees the changes made and proposed, or atleast those the media publicises. Most of his type were not effected by 9/11. His attention span is relatively short and he doesn't pay attention to how the security changes are made, or even how effective they are. Besides the media is hyping about something else, so they previous must be taken care of. To him 9/11 was no doubt a tragity, but it has more meaning to him in higher taxes and more delays at the airport. So with cries for reform behind the common man marches on.
And so the drive behind 9/11's effects are sputtering out. It hasn't "changed everything" but has been more of a bump in the road.

to many things in this world that really aren't important that i spend way to much time thinking about, e.g.: live journal, the never ending designing of a submarine, day dreams, computers( o wait i get random pay checks for that, nvm, it's worth time then) and i bet i could add alot to the list, but i'm gonna make myself get something done
